Nutritionista Samples: Red Bananas

I always like to try new produce. There are just limitless varieties, so why not take advantage? It’s a great way to mix it up and force yourself to get creative. So when I saw something that looked like a mini chocolate banana, I had to take it home with me.

Red bananas are tiny. I love miniature things of all kinds, so of course I thought they were adorable. They supposedly have a “raspberry-banana” flavor. The redder the fruit, the more nutrients it has. Mine actually took OVER A MONTH to ripen! That was crazy (and not normal, I think).
Once I finally got to try one, I totally got the appeal. They have a lighter banana flavor that tastes more fruity and refreshing. The size is also perfect for my banana-eating habits. I almost never want to eat a whole one. Plus, since they’re a bit more mild, they could be added to a smoothie or other dish without completely overpowering it. Maybe my banana-hating friend Rivka could even get down with this brown!
Check out your local grocer or farmers’ market to see if you can try them out, too!
