I’m a Meat and Potatoes Girl
I know when most people think of meat and potatoes, they picture something like this:

Doesn’t that look old school?!
But in reality, “meat and potatoes” can mean any number of things. And it can actually be a pretty healthy way to eat! As long as we’re not talking about this kind of meat and potatoes:

As much as I love “high-maintenance” food (you know, the stuff that takes 20 ingredients and 3 hours to make), I really am a meat and potatoes girl at heart. But I know as long as I focus on high-quality meat and don’t go too crazy with the potatoes, I can actually do pretty darn well eating that way.
Plus, there are limitless combos of “meat and potatoes.” For instance…
Cranberry Brisket with Horseradish Mashed Potatoes
Skirt Steak with Lemon and Chili-Roasted Potatoes
Ribeye Steak with Homemade French Fries
Marinated Flank Steak with BLT Smashed Potatoes
Okay, I’m kinda making myself hungry just looking at these recipes. You can also be flexible about what constitutes meat and potatoes:
Maple-Roasted Chicken with Sweet Potatoes
Mojo-Marinated Chicken with Purple Potatoes
Turkey Shepard’s Pie made with Mashed Potatoes
You can see where I’m going with this. As long as you add some veg to your meat and potato plate, seek out high-quality protein, and don’t go overboard with the potatoes, being a “meat and potatoes” girl (or guy) is actually a decent way to eat!
So, would you call yourself a meat and potatoes person?
